Generally, most of personal computer users backup their data copies onto External Devices such as “External Hard-Drive, Flash Drive, Pen Drive, or Network Hard-Drive.
At the time of restore these devices may not respond or may not be visible to the computer even though they are connected. This could have reasons like hardware error or software error. At times the drive partition becomes inaccessible due to viruses or mismatched partition table values. IF the Network Hard-Drive is not accessible then it could be that the “Drive Letter” is changed or there is no permission given to the user to access the data.
To overcome these,
- Run (Once in 15 days) Windows Update needs to download latest drivers if any for the external devices.
- Run (Everyday) Anti-Virus software Update to avoid viruses
- Run Check-Disk (Once a Month) for fixing errors if any on the drives
- Avoid improper shutdown of the system
- Check the Network Drive for user permissions and for the drive letter that was at the time when it was mapped to the computer at the time of backup
